When darkness descends, it's all you see

I went to see my advisor about studying at St. Andrews next semester, and she joins my mom, my extended family, and all the old professors I've talked to in the last month in being thrilled with the idea.

She also revealed that she has a Scottish friend who is, in fact, related to the present Thane of Cawdor. The Thane of bloody Cawdor. Isn't that fabulous? And if that isn't enough, apparently he rather scandalously waited until his stepmother was on vacation or something and holed himself up in his castle and put up the drawbridge. It sounds too good to be true.

I hear my grandmother really is fine, although apparently not home at the moment as I called and no one answered.

I wrote Ron/Hermione ... of sorts. :D

Wow, small world -- I just graduated from St Andrews. If you want advice on departments, modules, halls, what to bring, what not to bring, that sort of thing, feel free to drop me an email to the LJ email address or IM me at folkfolkfolkfolk.

And I had this vague idea that someone on LJ had been there, but couldn't remember. :D
Scotland!  I am so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so jealous.

I was supposed to see the Macbeth castle while I was there last year, but we were told the wrong directions to the bus stop by someone at the bus company and missed the last bus out there, so we ended up spending the better part of the day at a distillery.  Um... not that I'm complaining, I guess.  [See my previous "what I believe in" comment.]
I'll take pictures and post them and all, not to mention drinking scotch and thinking of you. :D
