Wednesday reading — no plot, no editing, no spoilers

What I've been reading

I read both volumes of Journey Into Mystery featuring Sif, which I'm so sad was canceled after ten issues. The first story arc was maybe a little wobbly in places, but it was funny and fun with great character moments and the art was never short of amazing. I mean, how can you not love this face?

(Relatedly, I don't know if Loki's new solo comic title will be any good, but I do know that I love his new costume and the design sheet by Jamie McKelvie. And basically everything that Jamie McKelvie does.)

I read Unsouled, the first half of what was going to be the third book of what was going to be the Unwind trilogy. I feel like this series could be complete by now if he didn't keep spinning off POV characters, including leaping into the heads of random background characters all the time as the POV characters encounter them. I feel like a grumpy old person or something, banging my cane and complaining about how sometimes books used to get edited.

I read No Plot? No Problem!, the official NaNoWriMo guide, to get in the mood for November and try to maybe edit slightly less as I'm actually writing and embrace the NaNo spirit.

I read Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, mostly out of curiosity, since everyone knows that she kills off Mark Darcy in it. Which is stupid and unnecessary and I don't accept it. But I did love the original books madly when I was thirteen, and this one also had some bits that I liked, in spite of a horrifying lack of editing.
